|Size||40 ft. long|
|Special Attacks||swallow; surprise on a 1-4|
The brobdingnagian lizard is a huge, aggressive carnivore with teeth sixteen inches long. They lie in wait in thick overgrowth, choosing to attack large mammals and beasts. They actively hunt during the day. Despite their enormous size they are able to surprise their prey on a 1-4, in part due to the mottled, muted brown and grey colouring of their hides.
The maw of these creatures is wider that most humans are tall; when a brobdingnagian lizard rolls a natural 20, in additional to the additional damage done, the lizard will swallow its prey whole. The gullet of the creature is fully two hexes in diameter, so that it is large enough for a swallowed victim to swing and cause damage against the creature (armour class 9), but the odour is so foul that the victim will suffer a 2 point loss to their strength each round. This penalty will begin prior to the victim's first action; and for the victim to take any action, the victim must make a strength check first.
For example, Liam, with a strength of 16, is swallowed and suffers 32 damage from the lizard's attack (double the 16 rolled on 5d6). If he is stunned, his strength will be reduced by 4 points before he can act; by 2 points if he is not stunned. To attack the brobdingnagian lizard from inside, he must first make a strength check against his adjusted strength; if this fails, his strength will fall by 2 more points. If he, or others outside, cannot kill the lizard before Liam's strength falls to zero, Liam will die.
Once the brobdingnagian lizard succeeds in swallowing any prey, it will turn about and run, moving quickly through the jungle. As it can run with a stride of 10 through its natural habitat, it is probable that without magical assistance, the creature will get away and its victim will succumb.
