Continued from Returning to Treborg

Again there is no rain throughout the night. A gentle breeze blows in the morning, the weather is pleasant and there isn't a cloud in the sky. Must be summertime.

Vafrandir gains another 4 h.p. in Monica's care; she makes a delicious porridge that makes you hope that it won't be the last time you taste it. You learn for certain that she's unmarried and you witness a brief scene the night before where she turns away a would-be suitor, Svein, rather coldly — before coming in and positively glowing with smiles as she asks you if you'd like a small bit of rum before returning to sleep. She receives a bottle whenever she wants one, but she doesn't explain how.

Pandred, Embla, Marcule ... any actions today?

Pandred Just bottle feeding our invalid. Take your 2 hp please.

The DM: Where are you now, Vafrandir? That is, how many hit points have you got?

Marcule: Pandred, would you like to go hunting with me? maybe we will be better as a team.

Vafrandir: I'm at 14 now. Almost totally better! I want to say I'm not oblivious to Monica...but not quite how to handle the situation as yet.

Pandred Not this go around, but for OOC availability reasons. I'd be fine with letting someone puppet me for hunting purposes. Thac0 18. I understand completely if that's not something Alexis would allow for a number of totally legitimate reasons.

The DM: I am willing to suspend some considerations for game purposes, but not that.

The DM: Vafrandir, how do you feel about allowing the rest of your healing to depend upon Pandred's bottle? Or how does the party feel about returning to Stavanger where they can buy more food directly and healing salves?

Vafrandir: I was thinking that might be our best option. It's not like Stavanger is totally inaccessible, and we'd be much better off taking a short trip over to stock up for the foreseeable future. Hunting is fine as far as it goes but we've got a lot of mouths to feed here. I'm up to traveling.

Marcule: I would like to return to Stavanger, I think it would be wise to supply.

The DM: From earlier, I wrote: freight is 9 g.p. per ton of goods to be moved, or 2,000 lbs, per 24 hr period or part thereof. Each living being counts as 2 tons. I presume that you're not planning on carrying nearly as much freight on this trip? There is a fishing boat in Treborg that isn't strictly bound for Stavanger, but they will take you for 18 g.p. apiece. There's no Willa to pay for, and Oddsdrakken could stay here.

Oddsdrakken: We could go get the barrels at the ship first, and sell them in Stavanger.

Vafrandir: A good plan. They're quite heavy - I think our cart will only handle one at a time, but it's a non-negligible profit. How long will the boat be in Treborg?

The DM: A day. But fishing boats stop in Treborg regularly; you may rely on one being there about 4 days out of 7.

Vafrandir: Not so bad. We'll need a few days to transport a barrel in any case.

Arrangements

The DM: Good morning. We can get one or two things settled, but I need to take my partner Tamara to the doctor's today, so I'll be a little while gone.

—: I'd like to confirm the following. 1) You're on your way back to the wrecked airship? 2) You are doing this on June 4th, after 2 p.m., though Vafrandir is not entirely finished healing? 3) you're heading out to take provisions so you can bring them back to Stavanger and sell them. Is that right? Each barrel full of liquid weighs 282 lbs. You'll need 50 feet of rope and some time building a tripod to load the barrels into the cart. The cart has a capacity of 2000 lbs.

Pandred: Sounds right to me.

Vafrandir: Very good. How much food did we consume on the 2nd and 3rd? Our mule can haul up to 1350 lbs at 1 AP remaining. We have plenty of rope.

The DM: Okay, back now. I thought I had given out those numbers, Vafrandir. 1 lb. each for those resting and 2 lbs. for Pandred who went out and hunted.

The DM: Very good. I would prefer that you stipulated your actions for that day, but since I want to maintain the momentum, you collect yourselves together (please make note of what you're taking with you), pick up Vafrandir at 2 pm., he says goodbye to Monica and you start off that very afternoon. Yes?
