The DM: The Barrow

As Lothar descends to the bottom of the ladder, the glowing beetle moves a hex closer to the party . . . at this point, the main party is down.

What would be the next step?

Lothar: I motion to the sappers topside that they should come down, then move to hex 0809. I whisper, "Remember, the plan is stick together." I ready my quarterstaff.

Embla: "Do we charge the one beetle, or their source?"

Pandred: Pandred flashes a grin.

"The one, Em. We start with butchery. When our fellows join us, then we can begin righteous battle!"

The DM: The beetle moves into 1209, just three hexes from Pandred ~ still moving only 1 hex per round, clicking its pincers gently and apparently rubbing its chitin hairs on the floor looking for food.

Pandred: I'm waiting on Engelhart or Lothar to start the fracas.

Our survivors deserve first blood just as much as our fallen deserve last rites.

Engelhart: Engelhart gestures for Pandred to get back little bit and resumes granting the last rites to Aleksandra Ivanovna's ossified remains.

[OOC: It's amusing me to no end the amount of deference we're granting this lonely beetle, but the fact remains that all of the party save for Pandred is at least an hex out of striking distance].

Pandred: I'll duck back into 0808.

The DM: Embla, do you have a move at this time?

Bergthora will appear at the bottom of the ladder.

Embla: No - I will hold position (letting Lothar pass through, of course).

The DM: Understood.

At this point, I'm going to need an initiative roll. Rolling randomly, I'll take a d6 from . . . Lothar.

Lothar: d6: 6

The DM: I rolled a 3. That gives the party initiative. The next post is up.
