Continued From Round 9 ~ Valda Takes the Heat

Summary

The pesky rat bites Engelhart again, but the others all flee. The jelly withdraws a pace from Pandred's last attack. Engelhart, Rob, and Pandred all hammer the jelly with blows. Lothar kills a rat and a new entity appears in the room...

Original Page

After the creatures' turn

The DM: The jelly withdraws following Pandred's hit, the blow undulating through it's body. Because of the withdrawal, no incidental damage is caused. The creature does not attack.

At the same time, the rat attacks Englehart's flank, rolling a modified 17 and nipping the cleric for another 1 point of damage.

The remaining rats flee the room.

The party is free to act.

Mikael has finished casting his spell; Rob is free of his back pack. Valda will slowly crawl to her feet in 1212.

Following the player's move, the map looks like this:

After the players' move

And experience:

Current XP totals

Mikael: I move to 1211 (1 AP) and discharge the ad spell, targeting Lothar (1 AP).

I think that is all I can do. If I am as allowed to keep moving, I move to 1109.

Mikael: The 1d8+1 on the Armor spell was a total of 6. The armor has an AC of 8, and takes any attacks or damage first.

Engelhart: I move up to 0910 and strike the jelly.

Attack roll: 19.

Damage roll: 4.

The DM: And the remainder of your move, Mikael?

That's definitely a hit, Engelhart.

Rob: I move to 912, strike the jelly and move back to 1013 (I now have 5ap so I can do that much).

Attack 18
Damage 1

Embla: I move into 911 and swing at the jelly.

Mikael: I should have 1 AP once I am in 1109, so I'll end my turn.

The DM: There's not enough room in 0911.

You'll have to give me a different action, Embla.

The DM: You've engaged the rat, Mikael.

Pandred will roll a modified 20. And he rolled another 8 on the die, so that is another 11 damage.

Embla: My mistake. 912, then.

The DM: Rob is in 0912. See comments, above.

Embla: In that case, can I move into 810 through Pandred's and Engelhart's hexes?

The DM: That will require 5 AP. I have that listed as Embla's move, so ... yes.

The DM: But what I don't understand is that if I'm saying you can't enter 0911, because there is jelly in 0911, why are you moving to 0810 to attack when you can attack right where you are??

Lothar: Lothar moves to 1010 and attacks the rat.

Attack: 16+1=17, hits AC 1; Damage: 8.

Valda tries to wake up.

Also - is that an ogre farther back in the cave??

Embla: OK. Thank you for clarifying - I made some faulty assumptions based on how the jelly was positioned on the map.

I stay put and swing at it.

Lothar: Another point of clarification - Mikael, you cast Armor on me, correct? Are the d8+1 points of protection something I'm able to know?

Mikael: Yes, I cast it on Lothar for 6 points. I probably should have mentioned I was doing that.

The DM: Sorry ... what ogre?

Mikael: The one in 0411, I imagine

The DM: The rat is dead, Lothar. I presume you don't resist Mikael's efforts. You're protected by an armor spell that will take six points of damage before you feel anything.

Rolling for Embla, she gets a 7 and misses.

Is there anything else?

Embla: There's a nasty-looking creature in 0411

Lothar: Something showed up in 0411, I won't swear that it's an ogre, but I thought I'd mention it because I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be there or not, it wasn't mentioned in the original post or any of the comments. And it is slightly concerning. But then, maybe I've got a bit of jelly in my blood now and am hallucinating...

The DM: It doesn't look anything like an ogre.

The DM: The post above is updated.

Rob: Was i unable to move backto 1013?

The DM: Just more of that tunnel vision, Rob. I'll fix it.

Rob: Thanks

The DM: The next post is up.
