Ice Lake Round 5 ~ Closing In
Continued From Ice Lake Round 3 & 4 ~ The Slow Charge
Summary
The larvae that reach the party fail to hit with their attacks. Embla hits and kills one, Lothar hits and stuns one, and Rob hits a third.
Original Page
The DM: Several larva move in, requiring two or three AP to close with the party, so they don't attack. In all, this round, there are four attacks: one on Rob, one on Lothar, and two on Engelhart.
Rob is missed by a 4.
Lothar is missed by an 7.
Engelhart is missed by an 10; the other creature tries to climb the small hummock in 2022 and loses its grip on the ice, effectively fumbling its attack (rolled a 1).
The party can act.
Following their action, the position of the combatants is as follows:
Experience so far:
Mikael: "Let's form a semicircle so we aren't overwhelmed!" (3 AP, I believe?)
Move to 1924 (1 AP)
Drop my torch and draw my mithril dart in my left hand (0 AP)
1 AP left.
Engelhart: I strike at 2023.
Attack Roll: 5.
Next time.
Engelhart: I withdraw to 1923, to close ranks.
Embla: I swing at the one in 1722: 19 on the die, for 21 total, hits AC -2, I think? 8+1+1=10 damage.
Rob: I swing at the one in 1622.
attack : 15
damage : 1
I then move to 1624 (2AP to disengage, yes?)
Lothar: I swing Talon at the creature in 1822.
Attack: 10+1=11, hits AC 6
Damage: 6+1=7 damage
Holding my ground for now.
[Oh, I'm here, btw.]
Lothar: Sorry, I misread my character sheet, an 11 hits AC 7, not 6.
Mikael: [I am here as well]
Rob: [here]
Engelhart: I suggest we don't hold our ground overmuch and instead keep them moving. These things have only 3Ap, meaning that if they move two hexes they can't attack in the same turn.
The DM: [here]
Lothar, Rob, you both hit. Lothar stuns his. Embla kills hers.
Technically, since they're attacking with body part and not weapons, they would only need 1 AP to hit ... but these creatures are not lithe, but are acting more like the cliche zombie, so they're slower. Engelhart, to answer the next question, gets no sense that these creatures are undead. Rather, this falls into the category of dweomercraft, but Engelhart has no amateur knowledge with that, yet.
The DM: The post above is updated for player position and xp earned so far.
Rob: [ are we waiting for their mov enow, or should we give you our actions ? ]
Lothar: I've got another meeting today, should be out of it in about an hour and a half.
The DM: Waiting for their move. The next post is up now.
Going forward, we'll follow the usual routine:
- Post begins with monster move
- Players comment on player move
- Update blog post to show player move, plus xp to date, for the player to confirm correct position and damage caused/taken
- Move onto new post
Rob: [I'm good with this protocol]
